Weekly News

The book fair is over and was a lot of fun!  Thank you for the gift of books for the classroom- I love books and I really love new books!  We will enjoy them for many years and think of your family when we do  🙂

We have worship today and our new art special with Miss Lori on Thursday.  Our letter sound is G again this week (like gum and gorilla- ) We are about done with HWT’s uppercase and will be switching to lower next week!  We are doing a lot with one to one counting, and number recognition.  We have not done a lot with the calendar up to this point this year, but will hit that this week  🙂 Ask them to sing the months of the year song to you, and remind them about poor May…May is getting forgotten! We will continue rhyming…over and over!  They are getting better and that will really help them next year- St Patrick’s Day is our theme the next 2 weeks.  There will be a lot of talk about Leprechauns and traps!  We use this trap idea for some great team building and literal building skills- for some reason they LOVE the thought of trapping this guy!  I think it is a little creepy…but they love it!  See you all in a bit!  Shannon and Jennifer

I’m Shannon Swim, I teach in the Jr K Giraffe room with the 4 turning 5 year olds.  This will be my 8th year at Little Blessings and I love my job!  I enjoy seeing the “light go on” with them- I love how they love to laugh and are so quick to learn and remember what we teach.  I enjoy learning myself and researching topics the are interested in and make learning fun!  We laugh a lot and work hard too- EVERYone goes home tired!   Brad and I have been married 23 year and have 3 “kids” This year all three will be in college :). Our son will graduate this December from Colorado Christian, Erica will be a sophomore at Colorado CCU.  Our baby Anna is starting at CU Colorado Springs.  So this year will look different for us!  I like being outside doing “Colorado things”, loving on my family and our animals (horse, dog and two cats!)  I have a very full life and I count it a blessing to teach this special group and get them ready for the next step!

Hello!  My name is Jennifer Branham, Ms. Jennifer.  This is my 8th year teaching at Little Blessings.  I also have 5 years experience teaching kindergarten both in Grand Junction as well as Douglas County.  I have lived in Colorado all of my life, growing up in Westminster and then going to Mesa State College where I received a degree in History and a teaching license.  I have been married to my husband for 16 years and we have 2 active boys ages 14 and 11.  We have lived in Parker for 15 years. Both of my boys are beginning new education journeys this year as they enter Ponderosa as a Freshman and Sagewood as a 6th grader.  I enjoy teaching this age group and preparing these kiddos for kindergarten.  Children this age soak up so much and their joy for learning is contagious and endearing.                                                                           Thank you for sharing your children with us!
